Cascais

The little seaside town of Cascais is located about an hour northwest of Lisbon by train.

Before the 1870s, Cascais was primarily a sleepy fishing village, and was a strategic port of call for ships on their way into Lisbon due to the town’s location on the mouth of the river Tagus. But then King Luis I decided to make it his summer residence.Other nobility soon followed the king's example and built palaces and beautiful villas here where they spent the hottest time of the year, completely transforming the old fishing village.

.Surrounding the town are beautiful little beaches.

The town is pretty cute as well.

(Their sidewalks are made to resemble the waves of the sea.)

And if that isn't reason enough to visit, there is also a great little Indian sidewalk restaurant (Taj Mahal) that makes the best nan ever!!
Could that be the reason we have already made two trips to Cascais this summer?
